Last weekend 11th and 12th of July the 50th anniversary of one of the most legendary models of the trial was held: the Bultaco Sherpa T.
Organized by Motorcycle Museum and Motocat, took place at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona, coinciding with the 24 Hours motorcyclist. A unique and unrepeatable event was attended by large outstanding pilots of the time as Oriol Puig Bultó, Manuel Soler, Ignacio Bultó, Marcel Wittemer, Ettore Baldini or Bernie Schreiber, Trial World Champion in 1979, among many others .
From early morning, the paddock was filling slowly different versions of Bultaco Sherpa T, to set an impressive exhibition of more than 180 units, from the pioneering "Sammy Miller" from 1965 to the latest versions of 1981. Even they were able to admire some unique units like the Sherpa 250 with which Franc Lucas arrived at Kilimanjaro, one of the mod.92 of the Himalaya expedition or a curious pre-series prototype of 1964.
Although, undoubtedly, the best environment took place in the five designated areas along the Circuit, where participants tested their impeccable Sherpa T while the incessant roar of the machines competing for victory in the 24 hours resistance were listened. A nice and interesting combination that has made spectacular images to remember.
The celebration's closing came at 15'00h, when completed 24hours motorcyclists, all Bultaco had the opportunity to make a memorial around the route of the Circuit.
Despite the high temperatures, many fans moved to the grounds to enjoy this big party. In addition to numerous pilots, also they highlighted some familiar faces, like Inés and Curro Bultó, Don Paco's sons, Josep Abad, president of the Catalan Federation of Motorcycling or Joan Fontserè, current director of the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.
New electric Bultaco Brinco also had their space, with a small test area.
