Held in Bassella (Lleida, Spain) on 15th April, it gathered fans from all over the country, and also from France and England, to commemorate the mythical spanish brand.

Once more, the Bultaco motorbikes were the protagonists in Bassella. Tralla 101, Metralla, Mercurio, Sherpa T, Lobito, Matador, Streaker, Frontera, Astro,... a great variety of models were present at the 3rd Bultaco Day edition, a day organized by and for the fans of this mythical brand from Sant Adrià del Besós (Barcelona) that achieved so many racing and commercial hits in the 60s and 70s.

Throughout the day, the participants were able to ride on the different circuits set up at the bassella Experiences facilities: motocross, dirt track, trial areas, enduro and also two routes along winding roads in the area.

In the central paddock, there was a great atmosphere with many familiar faces linked to the brand. From Alberto Nomen, member of the founding team; Estanislao Soler, head of the racing department; Emilio Bosser, manager of some official teams; technician engineer Manolo Marqués plus many legendary riders from different specialities such as Oriol Puig Bultó, Domingo Gris, Pere Taulé, Narcís Casas, Casimiro Verdaguer, Jesús Romero...

Among some of the participants units on show, two replicas came from France, one of the 1960 GP model and its "Record Hunter" ("Cazarecords") version.

Bultaco Engine Exhibition

Thanks to the collaboration of the Bultaco Club, eight units of the 400cc engine, popularly known as "El Conquistador" ("The Conqueror"), which the brand developed in the early 70's, were brought together. Twenty two units were manufactured, but they never were mass produced and had never been seen together before. A unique and unprecedented exhibition, consisting of two single engines and six motorbikes, which caused a great sensation among all those present.

Offroad riders conference

Another of the highlights of the day was the talk led by Narcis Casas: from Montesa to Bultaco. The Spanish seven times Enduro champion, explained how he started his racing career in 1970 with a Montesa Cota 247 and how he was quickly signed by Bultaco. Accompanied by his teammates in the 2 Days TT of l' Espluga de Francolí in 1971 (Oriol Puig Bultó and Casimiro Verdaguer) as well as the team manager, (Estanislao Soler) they shared anecdotes and experiences of those years, with unpublished images of this mythical event provided by the Schmidt family.

In short, an unforgettable day for many, of reunions, new friendships, nostalgic memories and big doses of joy and satisfaction to hear again how the engines of all Bultaco units continue to roar.

From these lines, the Museo Moto Bassella, organizer of the event, wishes to thank the presence of all participants and collaborators who made it possible once more the annual celebration of the 3rd Bultaco Day. We hope to see you all in the 2024 edition!
