It took place last Saturday, July 2nd, within the organisation of the current temporary exhibition Motorcycles: Art & Design, commissioned by Gerart Gallery and dedicated to the work of these two distinguished celebrities of the motor world.
Hans A. Muth is one of the world's most respected motorcycle designers. At the age of 87, he proved to be in very good shape, delighting attendees with almost two hours of talk about his professional career. From the moment he joined BMW, then moved from designing car interiors to becoming the head of the motorcycle design department.
From his inspiration to create some of the most mythical models of the Brand (R90S, R100RS, BMW GS,...) to other projects he developed outside BMW, such as the incredible Suzuki Katana. It was a real pleasure to listen to all his stories and anecdotes as well as learning certain secrets of these legendary motorcycles.
The other great protagonist was the painter Raul Contreras, creator, in black and white, of the striking illustrations of the motorcycle world covering the walls of the current exhibition. A work that overwhelmingly catches the spectator, within an incredible and strong atmosphere. He explained all his technique details, his work process to create this parallel reality in which he can explore every detail, a perfect blend between his gift as a painter and his great passion for motorcycles.
Hans A. Muth stamped his signature on the tank of the BMW R100RS owned by the Bassella Moto Museum. The first motorcycle with integral standard fairing designed by him in 1976, shaking the market up once more and turning it into a motorcycle symbol of an entire era.
Many BMW Clubs and fans across the country attended the event, riding authentic collector's unique bikes, such as these impeccable R100RS and the mythical R90S in Smoke and Daytona versions.
